Maybe you just want to see your adrenaline soar.
Ecuador’s Amazon has all of the above – plus no need to sacrifice luxury or comfort to let loose your adventurous spirit. The following properties are perfect accommodations for your stay in Ecuador’s rainforests.
An ecologically forward-thinking lodge is what you’ll find at Napo Wildlife Center. Located right in the midst of Yasuni National Park, this UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve has everything for the nature enthusiast who’s looking for an authentic rainforest experience.
Napo Wildlife Center and Lodge is owned and operated by the indigenous Kichwa Anangu people. While you’re a guest, you’ll be treated to the Kichwa culture and traditions while you take part in various activities. You’ll take part in daily trips into the rainforest with a Kichwa guide where you’ll enjoy kayaking expeditions to observe various forms of wildlife in their natural surroundings, including caimans, birds, otters, and monkeys. The lodge offers 20 cabins all located around a lagoon. Each room offers stunning views of the Ecuadorian rainforest. There’s also an observation deck, conference room, restaurant, and lounge overlooking Anangu Lake.
Also located near Yasuni, just over 50 miles outside of Coca, La Selva Lodge is another excellent accommodation choice. You’ll enjoy rainforest views and an unencumbered view of Gazarcocha Lagoon. La Selva Lodge features indigenous artworks in each of its 19 suites, three of which have incredible lagoon views. If you opt for a family suite, you’ll enjoy a large private bathroom, private hammocks, and an in-ground tub on your private porch. As most lodges do, La Selva also offers a spa and wellness clinic. Spa treatments are designed with the individual in mind. You’ll feel rested, revitalized, and connected with your peaceful surroundings.
Both lodges offer various activities, such as kayaking, night expeditions, and trail hiking to observe various indigenous species. It’s a view into the Ecuadorian rainforest not many get to see.
